Basic Nucleus Information

     A nucleus or “nuc” hive is a small colony, with drawn-out beeswax on the combs, an established laying queen and plenty of bees already at work, ready to be transferred to your hive at home.  Perfect for a new beekeeper or to replace winter losses.

     Nucs will have been given a mite treatment.

     The temporary nuc box can be reused to collect swarms or divide your own hives.

 

 

Pick Up Information

     We are located in the Cottage Grove Area.

     Nucs will be available for pickup on two different weekends, in the morning, between mid-April and mid-May.

The exact days and location TBD and you will be notified via email two weeks prior.

     Be ready to interact in a bee yard setting, you are responsible for your own safety.

     Be prepared to safely transport your nuc!  You might want to bring your bee veil and a mesh bag if you are transporting bees inside your vehicle.  We will have some transport bags on hand for $5 just in case.  We also recommend having straps or some way to secure your nucs for your drive home.

Terms and Conditions

     Nucs will be first come, first serve and processed in the order payment is received (see Payment section). 

We will have a limited amount of nucs for sale, but will have a wait list in case of cancellations.

     Nucs must be picked up on the day assigned within the hours designated.  If you are not present, your nuc will be made available to the wait list.  We will not hold them.

​

     You must install your nuc within 24 hours.  Refer to Nuc Care Sheet for proper installation.

 

     No refunds or returns.  All sales are final (see Cancellation policy).

     Nucs will be inspected before pick up to ensure they are queen-right, but once you pick up your bees, they are your responsibility to feed, treat, and tend. 

 

 

Payment Options

     Our three options for payment are cash, check, and online.  The base price for one nuc is $220, but we do offer a cash discount and require a service fee for PayPal.

Cash Discount:  Priced at $200 per hive.  Requires a $40 non-refundable online deposit. 

     Exact cash balance due at pick up.

Check in Advance:  Priced at $220 per hive.  Full balance must be mailed as soon as order is

     submitted.  Orders paid by check will not be processed and finalized until check has cleared.  

​

Online via PayPal:  Priced at $230 per hive.  This price includes the processing fee.

Cancellation Policy

     Please call if you need to cancel you order by Friday, March 20th.  There will be a cancellation fee of $40 but the rest will be refunded to you.   However, there will be no refunds on cancellations after that date.

​

Abandoned nucs may be offered and sold to wait list.
